Each session is unique. It is non-invasive, taking place on a comfortable futon mattress at floor level with the receiver fully clothed. It is recommended that you wear warm, loose comfortable clothing so that you can be free to relax and move. If coming from work, many people prefer to bring clothes to change into.
First session: This takes longer than subsequent sessions due to detailed note taking. I will ask you to tell me in your own words what is happening in your life and what you would like to change. Some people prefer to allow this to evolve in subsequent treatments. This is your choice.
Subsequent sessions: although this will vary according to how treatments are evolving, the usual pattern is to start the session with a chat, to update me on any changes since the last session and to let me know what's happening in your life. We then begin the treatment.
The end of the session: I usually allow a few minutes at the end of the session for you to rest quietly and ground yourself ready to face the world outside. I will write up my notes during this time.
I won't be invoking angels, casting spells or burning strange smelling herbs, but will be present to not only hear what you have to say, but to listen to what your body has to tell as well, and will treat your body accordingly. In order to get the most from shiatsu, there is a collaboration between the giver and the receiver. You are in control of the healing process, during the treatment you tell me whether you want more or less pressure etc. And in order for me to treat you, I will need to know how you are with the treatments, what's happening for you in your life.
Many people may find this hard to adjust to, being able to speak freely and to be heard without judgement or condemnation, but experience shows that this alone accelerates the healing process. Combine this with shiatsu and recommendations for exercise and diet, and incredible changes can happen.
